ACCOUNT MANAGER

MATERNITY COVER

Wonderworks Communications is a strategically driven creative agency with a clear vision. We specialise in working with drinks brands, large and small, to drive transformative brand growth.

WONDER is at the heart of everything we do. It’s the emotive spark that connects a brand with its audience, through intelligent strategy, beautiful design, and compelling activations.

As a tight-knit and highly collaborative creative team, we believe in ambitious thinking, genuine partnership, and exceptional craft. As an Account Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering work that brings drinks brands to life with clarity, creativity, and impact.

At Wonderworks we work with a proactive attitude, with each team member pitching in to support one another – no job is above or beneath anyone. That attitude extends to every team member upholding the Wonderworks vision and culture. We expect a friendly, positive personality and someone who is always keen to get involved and contribute to a happy work environment and wonderful creative work for our clients.

We are looking for an Account Manager to join our talented team on a full time, 1 year-fixed maternity cover, with possibility for a permanent role after this period.

You will act as the driving force that turns client briefs and creative ambition into structured, efficient, well-managed plans. Working closely with your Senior Account Manager, you will own the day-to-day delivery of projects, ensuring momentum, accuracy and alignment across internal teams and external partners. You will take ownership of your work, building and nurturing strong and trusting relationships with your clients and effectively engaging and inspiring multiple stakeholders, both within the agency and externally.

With a keen interest in premium drinks and spirits brands and an ambition to apply and build your drinks category knowledge, you will deliver beautifully crafted, premium, well designed communication materials including activation campaigns, brand positioning and packaging, campaign key visuals, moving image, photoshoots, events, global toolkits, brand positioning platforms, education programmes, sales tools and digital assets amongst others.

You will report into the Senior Account Manager (line manager) and Account Director (team manager).

Key responsibilities:

Account & Project Management

  • Manage project tasks end-to-end - from onboarding documents and cost estimates to timelines, delivery, and final reconciliation.

  • Act as the day-to-day client contact, building trust through clarity, responsiveness, and consistency.

  • You will confidently manage defined scopes of work independently, while escalating risks, decisions or changes in scope to your Senior Account Manager or Account Director as appropriate.

  • Coordinate resourcing across creative and strategy teams, ensuring smooth workflow and up-to-date reporting to your line manager.

  • Maintain accuracy across budgets, PO tracking, reconciliations, and job profitability using our Project Management software ‘Streamtime’, with a clear understanding of how strong financial management supports both client value and agency health.

  • Identify issues early, proposing solutions and escalating risks to senior team members when needed.

  • Support the use of client portals, external systems, and cross-agency processes as required.

  • Help coordinate shared timelines and deliverables with partner agencies and suppliers for seamless multi-agency collaboration.

  • Work closely and effectively with your line manager, ensuring proactive communication and support.

Creative & Strategic Collaboration

  • Act as the bridge between client needs and creative output, reviewing work against the brief and strategic intent.

  • Constructively help strengthen work before it is shared externally, ensuring clarity, brand alignment, and creative strength.

  • Translate client feedback into clear, actionable direction for creative teams.

Drinks Expertise & Category Knowledge

  • Build confidence in drinks category understanding - including trends, consumer behaviour and brand dynamics - through hands-on client work and collaboration with senior team members.

  • Apply drinks category knowledge in day-to-day account delivery, contributing informed perspectives that strengthen creative output and support client decision-making.

  • Proactively seek out and attend brand activations and industry events (e.g. tastings, workshops) that encourage learning beyond the desk, sharing relevant insights with team members and clients to support continuous learning and improvement.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a creative or integrated agency environment.

  • Marketing, Business, or related degree (or equivalent experience).

  • A good eye for design, strong creative appreciation, and excellent organisational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in managing clients and internal teams.

  • Strong financial acumen.

  • High attention to detail, with the ability to meet demanding deadlines while maintaining exceptional standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and confidence learning new systems.

The Package

  • Full-time, fixed-term maternity cover contract of 12 months, with possibility for a permanent role after this period.

  • First 3 months will be considered an initial settling-in period, during which either party may give 1 weeks’ notice.

  • 27 days holiday (including closure of the business during the Christmas and New Year period, 25th–1st).

  • Hybrid working from either our Leith Office in Edinburgh, our Holborn office in London or your home address. Ability to work from other locations as agreed by the business.

  • 2 team away days per year.
